2017 — Lead UX Designer
Xfinity
Store Locator
The Xfinity store locator was buried in navigation and built before mobile was a priority. Finding a store required knowing where to look and tolerating a page that wasn't designed for a phone.
Comcast had grown through acquisitions and was consolidating multiple brands under the Xfinity name. The store redesign was part of a broader relaunch — a move toward a more considered retail experience, closer to an Apple Store than a cable company counter. The locator and landing pages needed to reflect that shift, not contradict it.
We had seven weeks. We ran whiteboard sketches as wireframes and moved straight to design once a direction was approved. Stakeholder reviews became work sessions. We sketched UI in real-time with clients in the room, which meant decisions happened during the meeting instead of two weeks later.
The locator went live within four months of the project start. Page visits increased 120% year over year.
